First, can you please give us an idea of the sort of work your team has done recently?
Recently, my team and I have been involved in some intense proceedings with regulators, amongst others, with data protection authorities in various jurisdictions. Staying ahead of legislative developments is also an important part of our work. For example, in Europe, artificial intelligence and credit scoring are pretty much in the spotlight, but there are various other initiatives in various countries across the globe which keep us up at night. We recently established a pan EU regulated product offering regulated by the Irish Central Bank that brought the legal team even closer to key business strategic priorities.
What particular industry trends are you seeing in the legal sector in Luxembourg?
The legal sector in Luxembourg is highly influenced by various initiatives on a European Union level and given the extraterritorial scope of various non-EU regulations we are dealing more and more with the global alignment of potentially conflicting obligations. So, one important trend is definitely the globalisation of regulation which does not stop at borders. Another trend we see are tech transactions: The digital transformation of many companies is accelerated through enhancements in AI and the use of data. Many in-house teams are exploring how routine tasks can be automated to free up time to focus on more strategic and high value aspects of their roles as business enablers.
What is a cause, business related or otherwise, that you care about, and why?
On a personal level, my passion for technology and its potential to drive societal progress is a huge motivation to work for an innovative technology company like Experian. I strongly believe that technology has a key role to play in shaping a better future. Outside of work, I enjoy boxing and have found that the skills required – such as discipline, resilience and strategic thinking – are also very valuable in my professional life.
