First, can you please give us an idea of the sort of work your team has done recently?

Elemental is a highly dynamic group, continuously evolving and advancing. Last year, we managed to partner with leading global financial institutions IFC, EBRD, and PFR, in a $290m equity private placement, which provided critical support to our global growth strategy.

More recently, we completed several M&A transactions in the USA, solidifying our position as a major player in the collection and processing of spent automotive catalysts and e-waste.

Additionally, we are in the final stages of constructing a groundbreaking, state-of-the-art plant in Zawiercie, Poland, set to be the largest in Europe. This facility will pioneer comprehensive recycling of lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles and the recovery of strategic metals from used batteries in electronic devices.

What particular industry trends are you seeing in the legal sector in Luxembourg?

Personally, I believe that the stability of the Luxembourgish legal system is a crucial advantage. It appears that the primary challenge for international groups will be effectively adapting to EU-level legislation. Globally, key factors include ESG requirements, AI integration, and the implementation of a global minimum tax.

What is a cause, business related or otherwise, that you care about, and why?

As a global capital group, we are committed to urban mining with a focus on promoting a closed-loop economy and sustainable acquisition of critical metals in an eco-friendly manner. Our goal is to create a better future for our planet and its people by reducing dependency on traditional extraction sources and mitigating the negative environmental impact of our operations.

We take pride in being pioneers in lithium-ion battery recycling, global leaders in recovering platinum-group metals from spent catalytic converters, and a European leader in precious metal recovery from electronic waste. Our work enables us to remain competitive in the market while advancing the urban mining industry and supporting global transformation towards a more eco-friendly and efficient use of resources.

Our activities are crucial for environmental protection and concern for future generations. By reclaiming resources from waste, we reduce the environmental burden, and greenhouse gas emissions, and ensure the safety of workers and local communities.

I believe that continuing and developing our operations in line with the principles of sustainable development are essential for creating a brighter future. Our commitment to urban mining and eco-friendly practices will not only benefit the industries we serve but also contribute to a healthier, more sustainable planet for generations to come.
