question here
What are the projects that you are most proud of working on over the past 12 months?

Last year, I have been deeply involved in significant legal and operational transitions, including the transfer out of fund management activities historically performed within the group to a third-party management company, new partnerships, but as well funds’ merger and fund launches across EU. On the asset servicing side, I mainly focused on scaling our contractual documentation and operations to support business growth and efficiency.

How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crisis to ensure the organisation’s resilience?

In times of instability or crisis, I believe it is important to convey calm and confidence in legal advice. I always make a point of establishing strong ties with the business and keeping a proactive mindset, as being seen as a true business partner is essential to anticipate potential issues and preparing the business to navigate them while ensuring compliance and risk mitigation. It is also very important to strive for excellence in claim management and contract management, as these areas can significantly impact on the organisation’s economic standing.

What do you think are the most important attributes for a modern in-house counsel to possess?
I think having a profound know-how on the Luxembourg fund industry and related regulation is core to my role of in-house counsel. Besides, we must be able to shift to a business-oriented mindset, delivering concise and pragmatic advice while balancing acceptable risk and uncertainty. This requires mobilising not only legal skills but also a range of other skills to help understand the big picture and the different aspects at stake.

Based on your experiences in the past year, are there any trends in the legal or business world that you are keeping an eye on that you think other in-house lawyers should be mindful of?
While the regulatory landscape continues to evolve at a rapid pace, I see a notable trend in the Luxembourg financial sector towards digitalisation and particularly in the funds tokenisation and digital assets space, which have the potential to reshape the global fund industry. The role of AI is also growing, and we are starting to use secure AI tools to enhance productivity and data management. These developments will bring about new legal complexities, requiring businesses to stay ahead of the curve.
