Can you please give us an idea of the work your team has done recently?
Throughout this year, updating processes and policies have been the priority. The company has invested a great deal of resources to be the hallmark of compliance matters.
The team’s participation in key areas of the business consistently added value and generated synergies with the company’s management team. The team has given the company significant support throughout the year, evidenced by the diverse and extensive number of requests that were generated and addressed.
Which recent political, economic or regulatory changes have impacted the company and the team the most?
Various challenges have arisen in Mexico in the past two years that compliance officers have had to involve themselves extensively in. For instance, the risk of doing healthy business, away from any event of corruption, has led us to increase courses and training to reinforce the concepts of compliance and the correct way to close businesses.
In regulatory matters, changes in outsourcing as seen in the Federal Labor Law generated a novel approach and an increase in risk for companies. The task throughout this year was focused on reducing risk and generating the necessary action plans with the involvement of various areas in the company and specialist firms.
Does the team use any “legal tech” products, and do you find them a helpful management device?
The use of technology in compliance is a priority, to manage the different functions, cases, follow-ups and even to predict certain behaviours and anticipate problems. Given the conditions we work in, especially now, it is a priority to have intelligent systems and data that allow better decision-making.
