Does the team make use of any ‘legal tech’ products, and if so, for which areas of your job do you find it most useful?
Yes, we use www.monday.com for all our projects and case management. We are also limiting email use to external communications and using Google’s G-Suite tools and Slack within team and stakeholders’ interactions. We are also evaluating additional contract management and entity management solutions.
In what ways do you see the in-house legal role evolving in your region over the next few years?
In-house counsel will evolve to be true business partners, not just outside counsel managers or legal experts negotiating contracts. We predict more in-house counsel being an integral part of the business strategy group and participating as decision makers. Lawyers have a unique view of the problems and risks the enterprise will face and therefore provide a special value to all other areas of the company.
What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?
The financial regulatory licensing efforts of the group, as well as the investment series and loan facilities to enable the business.
As we enter the next decade, what skills will a corporate legal team need to succeed in the modern in-house industry?
As in-house lawyers become true business partners, their main contribution will be to detect and manage problems and risks. This will require in-house counsel to dig deep into their strategic function within the organisation.
