In what ways do you see the in-house legal role evolving in your region over the next few years?  

The in-house legal role has changed considerably in recent years. Today, an in-house counsel must be a strategic thinker. We must keep in mind that the businesses that we support are going digital in many ways and that the regulatory environment is getting more complex. 

What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?  

Some of the most significant projects our team has been involved in are the refinancing of long- and short-term loans representing approximately $5m. We also successfully expanded our maritime storage terminal located inside the Integrated Port Authority in the State of Veracruz and produced our first ESG report.  

As we enter the next decade, what skills will a corporate legal team need to succeed in the modern in-house industry?  

Corporate legal teams will have to possess technological competence, while being a team of strategic thinkers providing value to their organisations. It is also increasingly important for in-house legal teams to focus on improving work processes. There must also be a focus on balancing risks in the organisation and a strong motivation to bring advantage to the business.
