About

Since 2014, Claudia has been the chief legal officer of Grupo Herdez, a leading company in the food sector with a broad commercial presence in Mexico and the United States. In her role as CLO of Grupo Herdez, she has led the legal strategy for past structured acquisitions and divestitures representing more than USD$ 300 m. She serves as the secretary of the board of directors and advisor to the general manager of the Group. She previously founded the law firm Luna, Sandoval y Asociados, S.C. in Mexico, worked in New York at HSBC Private Bank and top-tier law firms in the United States such as Shearman & Sterling, L.L.P. and Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle. She is a member of the board of directors of Confiamigo, S.A.P.I. de C.V. S.O.F.O.M. E.N.R. (Kekipo) and Dianco, S.A.P.I. de C.V. and has participated in select international events such as the “VI Summit of Latin American Women Lawyers” (2021); “Women for Boards” by Dalia Empower / E.G.A.D.E. (I.T.E.S.M.) (2019) and at the International Conference of S.C.G. Legal (2019), a network of more than 120 independent law firms from the U.S. and related countries, representing more than twelve thousand affiliated lawyers. On a personal level, she is very involved in economic and social women’s issues. In her profession, she emphasises gender equality and diversity. In this regard, she founded Think Pink, a hybrid business accelerator, an ecosystem designed to inspire, educate and empower women entrepreneurs. She writes a monthly column in one of the most important newspapers in Mexico, Heraldo de Mexico, called Mujeres, in which she focuses on the challenges Mexican career women face today. At Grupo Herdez, she structured and launched a pilot program for mentoring women to support and inspire future female executives, in line with the fifth Sustainable Development Goal (Gender Equality) of the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations. This initiative seeks to inspire women to help other women build their paths and not depend only on global guidelines but also on strengthening local values. Also, in 2020 and 2021, the company developed the Semillero Nutrisa initiative, in alliance with Victoria 147 (a business academy for women), to promote S.M.E.s led by women. Luna participates as an instructor for the selected candidates and serves in this same function in other related programmes. In March 2022, she was recognised by Expansion magazine as one of the ‘100 most powerful women in business’ in Mexico.
