Andrea Esquivel is vice president and legal counsel of Discovery Americas. She has more than 12 years of experience in corporate law, specialising in areas such as mergers & acquisitions and private equity. 

Andrea joined Discovery Americas in June 2021 as Legal Associate where she has led all the legal activities of the firm. She has been supervising legal aspects of the M&A processes, both acquisitions and divestments, within the transportation, logistics, healthcare and education verticals of the portfolio. These processes include the acquisitions of SERVIMSA and AISG, the incorporation of a K-12 school to Merited, which is an educational platform created by Discovery Americas, several follow-on investments in AISG, KidZania and Mas, as well as the sale of H+. Andrea has also been active advising and working with the legal teams of the portfolio companies to support them with the implementation and improvement of their corporate governance strategies. 

As VP and Legal Counsel of DA, Andrea has worked closely with the investment and finance teams of the firm. She has also overseen the legal compliance of the different entities and funds used by DA across three different jurisdictions. 

Prior to joining the Discovery Americas team, Andrea worked as an in-house lawyer at AgileThought Inc and as an associate at the law firm Creel, García-Cuéllar, Aiza y Enríquez. Additionally, she worked as a foreign associate at the Tokyo office of Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu. She obtained her Law degree from Universidad Iberoamericana and has a master’s degree in law from University College London.
