How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crises, and how does your legal strategy align with the broader business strategy to ensure the organisation’s resilience?
At Uber, given that we are becoming a highly visible and newly regulated industry, the legal strategy is at the forefront of Uber’s overall strategy. Business and legal experts work hand in hand every day to properly understand and manage the risks Uber faces.
What are the main cases or transactions you have been involved in recently?
Although there are many relevant issues, Future of Work discussions, meaning how earners of the platform should work with the platform, is one of the main topics that Uber is dealing with across Latam and that is top of mind for most governments in the region.
How do you prioritise diversity and inclusion within your legal department, and what initiatives have you implemented to foster a more inclusive and equitable work environment?
As a senior woman leader within Uber and other global companies—and as someone representing a minority—I carry a strong sense of responsibility. For several years, I’ve expanded my focus beyond gender to other underrepresented groups. I actively participate in and sponsor employee resource groups, including those for people with disabilities and the Pride community. Engaging with these groups has deepened my understanding of the challenges they face. I make a point to share these insights within my team and work to ensure that diversity and inclusion are consistently prioritised in our day-to-day operations and overall agenda.
