How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crises, and how does your legal strategy align with the broader business strategy to ensure the organisation’s resilience?
When dealing with instability or crises, it is important to prioritise goals and main objectives. The way to obtain goals and objectives is through a strategy based on team effort. Team always comes first. Every single member needs to assume their responsibility, because without team effort and compromise it is hard to meet objectives.
How do you prioritise diversity and inclusion within your legal department, and what initiatives have you implemented to foster a more inclusive and equitable work environment?
Telecommunications sector in Mexico is dominated by men. At Altán Redes, men comprise 70% of the workforce while women only account for 30%. I am proud to be the first woman head of the legal department. Apart from the professional responsabilities, I feel personally obliged to all my fellow women colleagues in Altán Redes. As a leader and part of management, I have promoted awareness to foster opportunities for women in managing positions and having mentoring programmes. As a direct result, half of my team are women and two of them have become senior members. Other departments, such as human resources and finance are following in the same steps.
In addition to the above, it has become a personal challenge to promote diversity and inclusion by hiring talent from different cultural and social backgorunds. During pride month, we made an awareness campaign promoting the added value of diversity in working teams and ensuring a safe environment for all community members.
