Dina Moreno is currently the chief legal and compliance officer of Catena Activos Alternativos (Catena). Catena was established in 2023 by a seasoned team from Credit Suisse Asset Management Mexico (CSAM MX). Catena is a distinguished alternative asset manager in Mexico. With over MXN$46.1bn (~US$2.56bn) managed across three publicly listed funds, Catena is considered the largest manager of credit or debt funds in Mexico. Besides participating in structured financings, private equity investments, AML and capital markets matters, the most important recent achievement of Dina was participating in the negotiation and successful closing of the spin-off from Credit Suisse and the creation of Catena at the end of 2023.
Dina joined Credit Suisse in February 2019 and remained as chief legal officer of CSAM MX until the spin-off took place. Dina currently is the only lawyer in Catena, she expects to have a legal team as soon as Catena raises its fourth fund in the upcoming months. One of the main challenges Dina faces today, besides participating in the creation of the new fund, is implementing high standards of corporate governance in Catena.
Prior to Catena and Credit Suisse, for 11 years Dina was chief legal officer at Hoteles City Express, (Mexico City and Latam — Colombia, Costa Rica and Chile). When Dina joined HCE in 2008, the hotel chain had 26 hotels operating, when she left in 2019, there were 150 hotels. Dina actively participated in the exponential growth of the company. One of the most important achievements while in HCE was Dina’s participation in the Initial Public Offering of the company in 2013, as well as in the FollowOn Offering in 2014. At HCE, Dina was the secretary of the audit and corporate governance committee; chairman of the ethics committee; member of the personal data and privacy committee. In HCE Dina had a team comprised by three female lawyers.
Prior to HCE, Dina was a junior and then senior associate at Creel, García-Cuéllar, Aiza & Enríquez, (Mexico City) and participated in the international lawyers’ programme in Sullivan & Cromwell LLP (New York). Dina obtained her law degree with honours from Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM), and afterwards studied an LLM, Master of Laws in Duke University School of Law (Durham, NC) Dina is certified as compliance officer by the National Banking and Securities Commission in Mexico (CNBV).
