How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crises, and how does your legal strategy align with the broader business strategy to ensure the organization’s resilience?
Our industry is constantly challenged by uncertainty and the economic, political and social environment that prevails worldwide, so it is a challenge to adapt our business model efficiently and quickly to the current circumstances, which is why the work of the in-house lawyer must have a pragmatic approach in its management to efficiently facilitate the processes that the organisation requires to implement quickly but without ceasing to consider risk mitigation.
What are the main cases or transactions you have been involved in recently?
We are in an institutionalisation process to adopt the corporate rules that will regulate the incorporation of the third generation of shareholders in the operation of the company, in such a way that the objectives are common to achieve the permanence of the organisation over time. Our job as lawyers is to align that executive, intuitive and familiar thinking in the documents that formalise those understandings in a simple and transparent way.
On the other hand, we are in an investment project to increase our installed capacity with the purpose of increasing our commercial participation in the American market, therefore as a legal area we are participating in all the processes formalizing the necessary agreements with suppliers, authorities and clients to achieve this objective.
What strategies do you employ to ensure the successful digital transformation of a legal department while maintaining compliance with Mexico’s data protection laws?
I am a believer that technology is important to facilitate and enable our management and now that artificial intelligence is present, we must use it efficiently but with great responsibility and clarity. We should not think that artificial intelligence will replace the work of the lawyer; on the contrary, good use of this technology will allow us to better capitalise on our legal creativity.
How do you manage and motivate your legal team to ensure high performance and professional growth?
With an efficient delegation of responsibilities, granting them trust and autonomy but not independence to carry out their responsibilities. This allows them to execute with greater accountability.
