How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crises, and how does your legal strategy align with the broader business strategy to ensure the organisation’s resilience?
As legal counsel, one of our most important responsibilities during a crisis is to transmit calm to the business. It’s crucial that the business understands that, regardless of how complex the situation may be, the Legal team is here to provide full support. We ensure that we navigate the situation while remaining compliant with all applicable laws, company policies, and procedures. Aligning with the business strategy requires us to deeply understand the business so that we can anticipate potential issues and propose solutions. This proximity allows us to adopt a more commercially oriented mindset, ultimately positioning us as trusted business partners.
How do you prioritise diversity and inclusion within your legal department, and what initiatives have you implemented to foster a more inclusive and equitable work environment?
DE&I is something we take very seriously within my team. In fact, every single member of my team is required to include at least one DE&I objective as part of their annual performance review. Over the past few years, we have partnered with various non-profit organisations to organise different types of activities, led by the Legal Department, through which we raise both awareness and funds to support various causes.
How do you manage and motivate your legal team to ensure high performance and professional growth?
Recognition of outstanding contributions to the team or the business is fundamental in helping the team feel valued and motivated. We must actively listen to their needs and goals to ensure that we provide them with all the necessary tools and training to help them achieve both their personal and professional goals.
