Can you tell us about your journey to becoming an in-house counsel? What inspired you to pursue a career in this field?   

I always wanted to work in a business where I can not only work with lawyers but with different kinds of professionals to broaden my horizons and better understand all aspects of the business, and becoming an in-house counsel gives me the opportunity to learn from others on a daily basis.    

In your role as an in-house counsel, what are the main responsibilities and tasks you handle on a day-to-day basis?   

I provide legal support and team up with the Global Strategic Sourcing Group in a variety of international and regional procurement deals related with Direct Procurement, Indirect Procurement, Supply Chain/Logistics, and Finished Product Sourcing contracts. On a day-to-day basis, I have active involvement and provide advice on supplier negotiations with focus on strategic and risk mitigation opportunities.    

What are some of the key challenges you have faced as a rising star in-house counsel, and how have you overcome them?   

Working in an environment of constant change and evolution, I’ve found it most challenging to first understand the business with all its complexities while also keeping up with new ways for conducting business. This has been very positive as it makes day-to-day not to be monotonous, there is always an opportunity to learn something new and to propose novel solutions while being aligned with the integrity and values of the organisation.   
  

What steps have you taken to enhance your professional development and expand your legal skill set? 

For starters, constant training is essential to keep up with the pace. Nowadays it is essential to be a subject matter expert while also keeping a close eye to what’s going on in other departments to keep track, with this global view you can provide a more holistic and accurate recommendation to the globalised world in which we operate. 
 
I believe that continuous training is the compass that guides your path to success. It is an essential pillar in building a solid career.
