What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?
My team has been actively involved in the digital transformation initiative of Eli Lilly’s contractual framework, which has been a significant undertaking. This initiative aimed at the automatisation of the contract process across Latin America has yielded important results in both cost reduction and risk mitigation. The project’s success is a testament to the dedication and expertise of our legal team in navigating the complexities of digital transformation in the legal domain.
Could you share an example of a time when you came up with an innovation that improved how your legal team works and did not come at a large expense?
An example of innovation that significantly improved our legal team’s operations without incurring large expenses was the development of interactive training for the entire Latin America region. These training courses were designed to address critical topics such as ethical interactions with governmental officials, avoiding conflicts of interest, and adherence to Lilly’s code of conduct. This initiative not only enhanced our team’s compliance and ethical standards but also fostered a culture of continuous learning and awareness without a substantial financial investment.
What is a cause, business related or otherwise, that you care about, and why?
One cause that I am deeply passionate about is diversity, particularly within the legal sector. I believe that the legal field in Mexico has considerable room for improvement in terms of diversity and inclusion, especially concerning the representation and acceptance of the LGBTQ+ community. It is crucial to foster an environment where diverse perspectives are not only welcomed but also actively sought after, as this can lead to more comprehensive and empathetic approaches to legal issues. By advocating for and working towards greater LGBTQ+ presence within the legal community, we can ensure that our profession reflects the rich tapestry of society and upholds the principles of equality and justice for all.
