What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?
For me, it’s challenging to pinpoint a specific case, as it is not uncommon for us to collaborate on a variety of transactions that span different levels of complexity, financing significant projects across numerous sectors, including construction, agribusiness, transportation, technology, manufacturing, and utilities. Given the diversity of these sectors, we must be sufficiently skilled to secure all types of collateral and to address the specific requirements for each project. With that in mind, I believe that providing and ensuring a high-level legal service, coupled with meticulous attention to detail for every one of our transactions, is the most noteworthy aspect for which my team can be recognised. This is particularly important because we work for a financial institution that supports and promotes the core business of our society at all levels, from small enterprises to large corporations.
Could you share an example of a time when you came up with an innovation that improved how your legal team works and did not come at a large expense?
I tend to standardise and establish protocols to follow for each of the various operations we encounter. One relevant example is our debt restructuring process. The simpler the guidelines, the better. Working with checklists and bullet points is always a resourceful and cost-effective approach. Additionally, maintaining direct and constant communication with my team and other departments is essential for monitoring processes and ensuring the effectiveness of our guidelines.
What is a cause, business related or otherwise, that you care about, and why?
I have a high sense of social responsibility and working ethics; I strongly believe that everybody working in a financial institution must be accountable not only to our directors and shareholders but also to our community. Any wrongdoing could significantly impact the stability of our financial system. Additionally, I advocate for the work-life balance of my team, as I greatly value their personal lives and mental health.
