What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?
We have been working in the implementation of several labor regulations, including teleworking NOM, as well as in the renewal of the Registry for Specialized Services Providers (REPSE) before the Mexican Labor Ministry.
Could you share an example of a time when you came up with an innovation that improved how your legal team works and did not come at a large expense?
Recently I led an automatisation project founded by IBM’s AI technologies to develop the legal chatbot which is used by company’s internal sales team and staff areas to have quick access to contractual and commercial internal guidelines, as well as information related to standard templates and processes. With the implementation of such tool, IBM’ Legal Department’s productivity increased to focus on more strategic tasks.
What is a cause, business related or otherwise, that you care about, and why?
One of my focus areas is related to the negotiation and closure of generative artificial intelligence deals. With the evolvement of AI and its accelerated growth, it has become a complex task for IT inhouse lawyers to help customers understand the terms and conditions associated with the use of AI and provisions related mostly to IP rights, developments and liabilities associated with the use of such technologies, as well as the importance of the use of these technologies in an ethical way.
Also, I’m very interested in diversity and inclusion maters, and as I have been recently pointed out as LA focal point for D&I, I have actively been working in organising training sessions on the matter so all my colleagues within the region can increase knowledge and be sensitive on those relevant matters.
