BMW México is a private Mexican-owned branch of the German global automobile manufacturer. Initially set up in 1994 as a joint venture between BMW and private Mexican investors, the subsidiary currently produces automobiles and automobile parts and markets the BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad brands through 35 dealerships around the country. The legal team has a history of negotiating fair and sustainable agreements relating to the company’s diverse operations in the region. Most recently the team acted on the company’s plans to build a new production plant in the city of San Luis Potosí by 2019, a $1bn investment. ‘Considering the planned production capacity at the 150,000-unit Mexican plant, the BMW Group will be better able to take advantage of the growth potential the region is experiencing’, said Harald Krüger, a member of the board of directors of BMW AG. The decision to build another plant in Mexico is partly the result of BMW México’s already excellent relationship with Mexican suppliers, an achievement the legal team helped create in previous contract negotiations. The legal team will continue to work closely with the business at all levels to overcome any obstacles to the company’s growth strategy.
