Grupo Rotoplas have an established history in Mexico, characterised by its first-rate reputation in solutions to store, drive and purify household water. The Grupo Rotoplas legal team has been an asset to the company through their implementation of legal processes and comprehensive drafting of corporate governance policies. General counsel Laura Mariscal, is in charge of all compliance functions of the company, and her role also comprises of coordinating external counsels and giving legal assistance in regards to bid processes before the Mexican authorities. Under her leadership the team work to provide knowledge and support in helping the company achieve its objectives with a solid sense of ethics and responsibility while liaising with the Mexican authorities and regulators such as The National Banking and Securities Commission (CNBV) and The Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV). Taking the business facilitator approach, the team has been at the forefront of negotiating financial agreements surrounding mandate letters, trust agreements and International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA) credit agreements, to name a few. Founded more than 35 years ago, with the objective of bringing sanitary water to all Mexican and Latin American homes, the legal team has been active in a number of acquisitions that fulfil this goal. In March 2016 the team was integral to reaching an agreement to acquire minority stake in Chilean Advanced Innovation Center LLC (AIC) for MXN$106m. This project will be centred around AIC’s future development of the Plasma Water Sanitation System.
