The legal team at Nestlé Mexico is led by Wendy Alcala, general counsel and compliance officer. Alcala ranked 31st in Expansion’s 2016 list of 100 most powerful women in Mexico. The Nestlé legal team in Mexico is of equal quality, and has been at the forefront of various social initiatives across the region. Representing the team and its support of social initiatives, Alcala is frequently invited to participate as a panel speaker at industry events. The team is continuously working on projects that will have a positive economic effect for the Mexican economy. Most recently team members have been involved in the preparation and negotiation behind the opening of a new child nutrition factory in Jalisco, Mexico. This $245m investment is a milestone for Nestlé and is said to generate 250 direct jobs and 1,250 indirect jobs. It is Nestlé’s largest investment in the child nutrition category worldwide in the last 10 years and the biggest investment by the company in its 86 years of operating in Mexico. It is to this end that the legal team has a large scope of responsibility in ensuring compliance with all regulations, in order to guarantee the highest standards of quality and safety for each Nestlé product.
