Peñoles is the second largest Mexican mining company, the largest Mexican producer of gold, zinc and lead and the world leader in silver production, with active mines within Mexico and projects throughout South America. The legal team has been paramount to the expansion of the company. Led by vice president, Sergio Rodriguez Molleda, the legal team includes experienced deputy general counsel Gustavo Alarcon, who has worked at prestigious law firms such as Mayer Brown, Jauregui, Navarrete y Nader, SC (now Nader, Hayaux & Goebel) and Baker McKenzie. Ricardo Esquivel, head of environmental legal issues, has also contributed to matters involving water law and corporate governance. The entire team boasts a wide expertise and extensive experience representing clients in a range of domestic and international transactions, both in private practice and in-house. The legal department advises on all business and operations teams on legal issues related to mining regulation, M&A, corporate finance, capital markets and thermoelectric energy projects.
