The expert in-house legal team at 3M Mexico consists of five members including general counsel Ivan Enrique Rojas Loynaz, and conscientiously supports the healthcare business, government affairs and compliance department as well as the managing committee. Each team member is a business lawyer and manager, acting in a business partner role bringing legal and strategic solutions to each of the different business models and ideas that may appear. Each member directly supports two business divisions, and is also engaged in leading and supporting special projects mostly related to productivity, from the legal department and across the company. The most senior lawyer in the team, Karla Chavez, also a member of the managing counsel, supports programmes directed to embrace the new legal services models, what the company calls “3M Legal Transformation”, in order to grow in efficiency and better ways to serve. The team has grown concurrently with 3M’s expansion in Mexico, and has recently introduced new legal skills to the company’s Mexican operations with the addition of Ernesto Ramirez and Manuel Victor to the team. The team has been involved in managing bids and tenders, M&As, healthcare regulations, supply chain standards, as well as anti-trust laws. Rojas states that the team expertly manages ‘what’s critical and not its surroundings, leveraging the legal acumen of our lawyers, and bringing flexibility to our work styles and times, using technology as our best ally.’
