In October 2017, after thorough consultation with its highly skilled legal department, América Móvil announced a joint venture with JCDecaux. This endeavour links both company’s out of home advertisement businesses in a new integrated joint venture company, with América Móvil having a 40% share and JCDecaux obtaining a 60% share. The talented legal team continued to impress in the following year. In March 2018, and throughout the year, the legal team worked on the corporate restructuring of two of América Móvil’s subsidiary companies; Teléfonos de México (Telmex) and Teléfonos del Noreste (Telnor), separating the two companies’ wholesale commercial services into new legal entities separate from other América Móvil subsidiaries. In January 2019 América Móvil announced that it acquired 100% of Telefónica Móviles Guatemala and 99.3% of Telefónica Móviles El Salvador, signalling the company’s ambition to expand into Central America and a further challenge for its legal team.
