Banco del Bajío
The team of in-house attorneys in legal business management for Banco del Bajio is comprised of 46 lawyers, 20 of whom are men and 26 of whom are women, and is led by legal affairs director Rafael O. Romo Aguiñaga. Regarding this balance of gender, Romo explains how this is: ‘Part of the success of our team. The selection of attorneys that collaborate in our legal team are based on competency and abilities both personal and professional, high ethical standards as well as experience in the legal field’. Banco del Bajio is a leading bank in granting credits to the agricultural sector, being recognised on two occasions by the National Agriculture Council as a great business of supplies and services. Recently, it has also moved into project finance involving a new area of law for the team particularly in the states and municipalities. The legal team is distributed across Mexico, giving service and support to the business areas, in addition to the support team that is located at the corporate offices of the bank in Leon, Guanajuato. Romo identifies that the important changes the bank faces include adapting to the fluctuating regulatory changes in the Mexican financial market and implementing a new focus on the digital banking and its rapid development. Romo continues and states: ‘We are in a period where changes present themselves in a manner which is vertiginous, but I consider Banco del Bajio to be a solid institution, prepared to confront any challenge and with the capacity to adapt to new circumstances’.
