Diana M. Becerra is an international lawyer with over 15 years of experience in-house legal experience in start-ups, private high growth, and public companies. Her extensive expertise spans across various domains including technology contracts, international law, intellectual property, privacy, data protection, mergers and acquisitions, and litigation, among others. Diana’s career is marked by her commitment to excellence, business acumen, and proven ability to close complex cross-border transactions under tight deadlines. 

Her career trajectory includes significant roles in leading global companies. Currently, she serves as senior associate counsel at Visa, where she has provided legal advice and supported the digital partnerships and innovation teams and recently Diana has assumed responsibility for supporting product and commercial deals for Visa’s Acceptance Solutions. Her focus is primarily on technology transactions, advising on legal, regulatory, and commercial risks, and supporting product development across various business initiatives and regions. 

Before joining Visa, Diana was the director, lead counsel at Assurant leading the legal team advising the global trade business unit, handling high-value supply and service contracts, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Diana was instrumental in implementing processes to manage due diligence and high volume contracting with buyers around the world and the legal integration of companies acquired by Assurant in the products trade business segment. 

Diana’s role as head of legal Latin America at 4finance Group saw her managing all legal affairs in the Latin America region. She established new operations, managed compliance, corporate governance, litigation, and supervised outside counsel. Her efforts ensured quality legal advice within budget limitations and supported the establishment of the group in Latin America. 

Her earlier role as Latin American region lead counsel at Brightstar, a Softbank Company, involved recruiting and training the first legal department of the company and managing all legal affairs for Brightstar and its subsidiaries in Latin America including a manufacturing facility in Argentina. She successfully negotiated multimillion distribution and service agreements, joint ventures, and structured partnerships. Her efforts were crucial for the successful expansion of Brightstar in the region. 

Diana’s career is characterised by her strategic thinking, ability to build and maintain strong business relationships, and her talent for creating effective legal teams. Her proficiency in leadership and ability to provide practical solutions in complex situations have made her an asset in every organization she has worked for.
