Laura Paredes is an internationally educated lawyer, licensed in Colombia in 2003 and also in the State of Missouri, USA in 2020. Additionally, she is a registered and authorized in-house counsel with the Florida Bar. 

She holds a Master of Laws in Comparative Law in 2004 and a Master’s in Interamerican Law in 2006, both from the University of Miami. She is also a Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional, CCEP in 2012, through the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics, SCCE. 

Laura began her legal career at the law firm Larson King, working in their Miami office in 2004. She then joined Ingram Micro Inc., a 50-billion-dollar global IT distributor, as in-house counsel in its legal department in 2006. She later transitioned to the role of Compliance Officer, initially overseeing Latin America in 2011 and subsequently the Americas region. 

In August 2024, Laura joined Laureate Education, where she currently serves as Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer. With over 16 years of experience in compliance, she has successfully implemented robust compliance programs, led internal investigations, and driven ethical culture initiatives. She is highly skilled in regulatory affairs, contract negotiation, and strategic leadership. Laura excels at building diverse, high-performing compliance teams and fostering cross-departmental collaboration. She is passionate about promoting ethical conduct and ensuring regulatory compliance.
