In 2011, Cara Fox Dwyer put her plans into action and moved to Dubai to practice law, working in private practice in Dubai until 2017 when she transitioned into her current in-house role with Seddiqi Holding, the largest distributor of Swiss Brand watches in the Middle East with a company portfolio consisting of over 60 prestigious watch and jewellery brands. ‘Working for the family has been a privilege and an honour, and a superb learning experience’, says Dwyer of this prestigious role. As senior legal counsel, Dwyer acts as a senior advisor on a broad range of practice areas as part of a four-member legal team, with one of her primary roles being handling the conclusion of brand-related contracts. ‘This requires working with brands based in numerous foreign jurisdictions and with the company’s commercial teams to negotiate contracts that meet both their needs and that protect the company from a legal standpoint’, she says. It is clear that Dwyer relishes her work, which clearly makes her one to watch in the fashion legal sector going forward: ‘As I continue to grow as a lawyer and member of the Seddiqi team, I cannot help but reflect on just how happy and excited “high-school me” would be to see what the future had in store. I have been lucky to work with incredible people, and my career and passion have intersected beautifully’.
