Starting his career as legal counsel and then senior legal advisor, Dr Abdelkareem F. Alkadomi transitioned to become a judge in Jordan. He regards this particular part of his career as a particular highlight: ‘My role as a judge provided me with a better picture on the view of the different adjudicated parties’. From here, he moved to the UAE and joined Emirates International Investment Company as sole legal counsel (or ‘de facto general counsel’ as he puts it) and became group chief legal officer of National Holding after participating in a major group restructure. From here, he joined DAMAC Properties as senior vice president – legal before joining Abdul Latif Jameel Investments as chief legal officer in October 2016. Here, he has revolutionised the internal legal function through ‘proper systems and procedures for work stream flow, organising an effective structure and standardisation of templates and laying down the governance principles’. Alkadomi was promoted to chief legal officer in August 2019.
