Experienced legal leader, promoting best practices in complying with all international and local Laws. Mathad brings over 22 years of experience in various fields of law to his clients. He specialised in compliance, trade remedies cases, economic sanctions, export control, and multiple occasions in different areas of law. He joined Saudi Basics Industries Corporation (SABIC) in 2001, and his last position at SABIC was the general manager and chief counsel in legal affairs. Before becoming a general manager, Mathad was a certified lawyer who practised law in several departments within his company, such as commercial, domestic, and intellectual property departments. He is also responsible for establishing policies and procedures, conducting compliance investigations, and assisting subsidiaries in several countries worldwide with Legal issues. Mathad worked as a board member in the Steel Company (Hadeed), one of the affiliates in SABIC and was appointed by SABIC to be its representative in several trade committees, such as the Saudi Arabia Trade Remedy Committee and International Trade Committee in The Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA). Mathad also is a board member of several entities promoting compliance such as Pearl Initiative and Nebras. During his time with SABIC, Mathad was exposed to many legal matters in Saudi Arabia and worldwide. He developed a passion for increasing awareness of legal issues globally. He is a board member of Arabian Internet and Communications Services Co. (STC Solutions) and a board member of a leading digital entertainment company in MENA called Integral. In Aug 2019, Mathad was appointed vice president and Saudi Telecommunication Company (STC) general counsel. In April 2022, Mathad was appointed chief of legal and risk officer and general counsel of STC.
