How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crises, and how does your legal strategy align with the broader business strategy to ensure the organisation’s resilience?

During periods of instability or crises, my approach to managing legal aspects is rooted in proactive risk management, coupled with clear communication and collaboration with key stakeholders. It is essential to ensure that legal strategies are fully integrated into the overall crisis management plan. This involves conducting thorough risk assessments to identify potential legal issues and developing timely mitigation strategies to address them. Ensuring that all actions taken during a crisis comply with relevant laws and regulations is crucial to avoid legal repercussions. Additionally, maintaining transparent and timely communication with both internal and external stakeholders is a key component of this approach.

What are the main cases or transactions that you have been involved in recently?

In recent months, I have been involved in several high-profile transactions that have significantly impacted our organisation. One of the key highlights includes advising on and implementing comprehensive compliance programmes in response to new data protection regulations, which ensures that our broad organisation remains compliant and avoids potential penalties. Additionally, I have managed complex and high-value disputes within my region, resulting in favourable settlements that protect our company’s interests. I also led negotiations for several high-value contracts with key clients in the region, securing terms that enhance our strategic partnerships and drive business growth. Furthermore, I successfully directed the legal team in the establishment of several subsidiaries in the GCC and Australia, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.

How do you measure the impact of ESG initiatives on the company’s overall performance and reputation?

FCC Construction’s ESG initiatives have had a significant positive impact on both its overall performance and reputation. The company’s commitment to sustainability is evident through its ambitious goals and strategic actions outlined in the Group’s Sustainability Strategy. These initiatives have led to substantial improvements in environmental performance, such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions and increasing water reuse. In terms of social impact, FCC Construction has strengthened its HR policies, enhanced training programmes, and promoted diversity and inclusion, all of which have contributed to higher employee engagement and satisfaction. The company’s corporate governance practices, including rigorous compliance and ethical standards, have bolstered its reputation for integrity and responsibility. Overall, these ESG efforts have not only enhanced operational efficiency and reduced costs but also positioned FCC Construction as a leader in sustainable construction, earning recognition and trust from stakeholders, including clients, investors, and the broader community.

How have you integrated technology into your legal processes, and what impact has this had on efficiency and compliance?

Integrating technology into our legal processes has significantly enhanced efficiency and compliance. We have implemented advanced document management systems and AI-powered legal and contract tools, which streamline our operations and reduce errors. Additionally, compliance monitoring tools and solutions have improved our ability to stay compliant and respond to legal challenges promptly. These technological advancements have led to increased efficiency, reduced costs, and positioned our legal team as a strategic partner in driving the organisation’s success. Overall, technology enables us to concentrate on strategic, high-value activities while maintaining accuracy and compliance.
