The legal department at Bank Audi has earned its place as one of the leading in-house functions in the Middle East by offering expert advice on the bank’s investment and expansion plans while internally streamlining major polices such as anti-bribery, corruption and conflict of interest. In order to incorporate a new company, the legal team obtained the first foreign banking license in Turkey for over 10 years. With their support, Odeabank was able to set up operations and widen the geographical scope of the overall group. The legal department has woven a web of communication between its entities ensuring Bank Audi’s vision and strategy are aligned throughout. The team has also helped to implement FATCA (Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act) within an environment where confidentiality is paramount. More recently, the legal team has single-handedly conducted legal due diligence on a banking entity that the group had identified as a target for acquisition. Legally supporting one of the largest banks in Lebanon in assets, the team have developed deeply rooted knowledge of the banking sector; this led to their role supporting the Lebanese Banking Association on drafting regulations for the yet to be implemented Capital Markets Authority.
