Tatweer Petroleum
The past year has been a particularly fruitful one for oil and gas producer Tatweer Petroleum, despite the challenges faced by many energy companies in their current economic climate. A number of contracts have been signed with external companies aimed at improving their facilities on Bahrain’s oil field, and the company has achieved new landmarks in its production targets. In 2015, the company signed a deal with Petrofac who agreed to provide a new gas dehydration facility in a deal worth $100m, with the foundation stone for this project being laid in April 2016. The company has also launched new projects, including a solar power plant and an extra-heavy oil production operation. The legal team at Tatweer has provided the necessary groundwork to complete these deals and projects, which have have contributed to the company achieving steadily increasing production targets. Indeed, the company’s successes have not gone unnoticed by industry insiders, and the company has received a number of press awards for their achievements. The general counsel of Tatweer, Thamer Dawood, has an extensive in-house legal career spanning more than a decade, and includes spells at Sultanate of Oman and Occidental of Oman Inc. The wealth of experience that Tatweer is able to draw upon from within its own ranks is undoubtedly a major factor in their success over the past year.
