Career biography:

I am an English qualified lawyer, currently based in Amsterdam. Here, I work as adidas’ Senior Legal Counsel, focusing on e-commerce, digital, tech, and everything in-between. Before this, I was based in Herzo, Germany, working from adidas’ HQ.

At adidas, I work hard to be open and approachable. I do this by sitting amongst the teams’ stakeholders, rotating between departments and offering ad hoc advice where possible.

We have a team of proactive lawyers, hosting workshops for our eComm teams on consumer law, providing our SMT with regular horizon scanning advice, and regularly reviewing our consumer facing T&Cs.

More recently, we’ve put real emphasis on empowering our consumer service agents to confidently advise on return rights, guarantees, and other quasi-legal topics. We’ve done this through introducing info-sheets that can be incorporated into process flows, reviewing and simplifying agents’ scripts, and offering regular training sessions.

Working for adidas has been a career highlight. I’ve particularly enjoyed rolling out our new commissionaire model globally, advising on the automation of consumer refunds across Europe, and negotiating with some of our biggest tech providers.

For 2025, the teams’ focus will be on the implementation of the European Accessibility Act and automating responses to simple legal queries.

Outside of adidas, I’m a massive rugby fan. I’ve trained with the All Blacks and played alongside the current South African captain – so working for adi was a dream come true!
