Olutola Bella is a senior corporate counsel with significant experience in corporate finance, banking, capital markets, mergers and acquisitions and corporate and commercial law. He was, until recently, Deputy Chief Legal Officer at Moove, a Nigerian-born global mobility fintech. At Moove, Olutola played a significant role in building the foundations of a strong legal and compliance framework, including nurturing the Legal team into an efficient, high performing team that supported the business to expand into several global markets. His responsibilities involved formulating the overall legal strategy and advising senior leadership. Prior to his role as DCLO, he was General Counsel, Sub Saharan Africa, which involved overseeing the management of legal and regulatory risk across Moove’s operational markets in Africa. Prior to joining Moove, Olutola spent about 10 years at the Standard Bank Group in various capacities. At the Standard Bank Group, he led the Bank’s legal team on a wide range of corporate and investment banking transactions, many of which were landmark transactions. His experience cuts across equity capital raisings in the domestic and international capital markets, and debt financing transactions in sectors ranging from real estate to oil and gas, power, manufacturing and consumer goods. He also previously worked at Banwo & Ighodalo and Aluko & Oyebode, two of Nigeria’s foremost full-service law firms. Olutola was admitted to the Nigerian Bar in 2007. He obtained his Bachelor of Law (LLB) and Master of Law (LLM) degrees at Obafemi Awolowo University and the University of Cambridge respectively. He is a member of several professional bodies, including the Nigerian Bar Association. Olutola’s interests include reading, writing, photography and travel.
