KLP is Norway’s largest life insurance and pension company with an annual turnover of NOK 650bn and almost 1,000 employees. It offers a wide range of pension, life insurance and investment plans and covers a large proportion of workers
in Norway’s public sector.
The department contains
GC Powerlist-recognised Henrik Hilseth-Hartwig, legal counsel, and also consists of a group of other expert lawyers. The legal department is responsible for a range of matters including general asset management law, negotiation of counterparty documentation (including futures, ISDA/CSA, GMRA, GMSLA and more), IT outsourcing, M&A, general contract negotiations, remuneration framework and policies in finance, fund management compliance, corporate governance,
ESG-investments, internal and external board work. In the last year KLP has launched a number of new products including a new “swan-eco-labelled fund” dedicated to investments that are fossil-free and score highly in corporate social responsibility, a first in the Norwegian market.
