Can you briefly explain how the legal team is structured, highlighting key individuals and their role within the department?

Our team comprises 11 lawyers — six of them are part of the core team, while four work on our construction projects; and one lawyer is in charge of the claims department. I want to make a special mention my assistant head of legal — Per Fredrik Berge.

What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?

I cannot disclose specific projects. But I can affirm that the legal team is continually involved in large construction contracts in Norway. The contracts can vary from NOK500 to 4 bn.

What will be the main focus for the company in the next 12 months and how do you intend to assist with this?

Our primary focus will be to be present for the company and assist in the early stages of the projects. We will provide legal and strategic advice, both with legal memos and participating in risk assessment meetings.

How does the team contribute constructively to the growth and expansion of the company?

We value working closely with project teams at the early stages of every venture. Our contribution and advice are based on the company’s strategy, and they are aimed at mitigating risks while increasing profit.

How do you feel the pandemic has changed the world of work for in-house counsel and the function of the general counsel?

There are no considerable changes in the world of work for in-house counsel and the function of the general counsel. Indeed, we travel much less now and rely upon digital platforms to carry out our job more than before.
