How do you feel the pandemic has changed the world of work for in-house counsel and the function of the general counsel?

Despite the terrible consequences of the pandemic for many people, it allowed us to show how professionals can adapt to changes with a shift in their management mindset. It also allowed professionals to demonstrate with resilience that we are prepared to develop new skills to be together with the business and its growth. As head of an in-house counsel department, it was necessary to speed-up the decision-making process to provide comfort to our team and clients, be prepared for the uncertainty was crucial and the development of communication skills has never been more important. The pandemic accelerated the way in which business was developed and showed that the integration of multinational legal teams was necessary to share operational, commercial, and regulatory challenges and at the same time find joint solutions. For example, while cybersecurity was something that people were not really talking about a decade ago, it is the one of the most important risks right now. Imagine what a service company or even a law firm would be like if you could not talk to your team or your clients. The information that companies handle and the liabilities for damage generated for any leak or wrong use of the information can seriously affect the results of any company.
