What are the most significant cases and transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?

The administrative authority in matters of competition initiated four sanctioning administrative processes against our products for an alleged breach of the healthy eating law about advertising warnings. However, after presenting our defense arguments in legal and technical matters, the administrative authority decided to file the four sanctioning administrative procedures.

How do you feel the pandemic has changed the world of work for in-house counsel and the function of the general counsel?

I consider that this pandemic has left several changes in the work of in-house lawyers and lawyers in general, since on the one hand it has forced us to approach technology, specifically virtual platforms, and other technological tools to be able to carry out our functions normally such as meeting with our authorities, negotiating with our suppliers, attending court hearings, submitting briefs, digitally signing documents and more. On the other hand, it has allowed us to be more efficient in the management of our time and resources, since virtuality has reduced important expenses and streamlined meetings with our internal clients and other stakeholders with particularly good results.

What are some of the key developments – legal, geopolitical or otherwise – that have affected your business over the past year?

The national political situation on the internal flank and some exogenous elements such as the war between Russia and Ukraine and the increase in oil worldwide have made supplies, raw materials, transport freight and numerous services more expensive.

Looking forward, what technological advancements do you feel will impact the role of in-house legal teams in the future the most?

There are various technological developments that have had a significant impact in the field of law, such as the use of digital signatures, virtual platforms, social networks and new forms of communication and advertising, virtual money, among others.
