At Urbanova, the pandemic forced us to change objectives, goals, and processes. We rethought our way of doing business, but that passion for achieving goals, leading teams, and growing has never changed.

The most exciting thing about being an in-house lawyer at Urbanova is seeing your work producing tangible results in the day-to-day running of the organisation. Whether it is a new office building, a new shop operating in a shopping centre or the closing of a financial transaction worth millions of dollars.

The achievement of each of these objectives is experienced closely by the professionals who accompany you along the way. This daily feedback between engineers, administrators, economists, marketers, and architects makes Urbanova’s legal advisor go from being a lawyer to being a business partner, which I believe to be a strategic element for decision-making and realising objectives.

In the past few months, we have secured international financing of more than US$200 m, strategic investments and integrations, built a new office tower in the city’s most important financial centre, and managed to maintain a smooth operation while adapting to countless regulatory changes issued by the government, all with high levels of satisfaction for our internal customers. The legal team has become the first line of defence of the interests of the Breca Group’s real estate business.

The pandemic brought out the best in us. I managed to become Urbanova’s first Annual Star for 2020, the company’s most important annual recognition (awarded in one of the most complex years we have had as a business). I am aware that with the countless changes we are going through as a country, my resilience and ability to find the balance will be crucial to be able to adapt to the needs of my position and team.

Today, I have been given the challenge of integrating the hotel business into our real estate portfolio. Now the management of one of the most important hotel chains in Peru is in the hands of our legal team. I have no doubt that this integration will only make us grow as legal professionals, strengthening our knowledge, and broadening our vision and career lines in Corporación Breca.
