What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?
Over the pandemic, our legal team focused on handling challenges in the following areas of law: employment, construction and contract management. Apart from my work for UPC, I also have been involved in interpreting the new sectorial regulation and supporting new generations of law students.
How do you feel the pandemic has changed the world of work for in-house counsel and the function of the general counsel?
The pandemic positively affected the world of work. With technological progress in legal tech including digitalisation of contracts, in-house legal team can now produce good quality of services in various areas.
Looking forward, what technological advancements do you feel will impact the role of in-house legal teams in the future the most?
Technological development did not only positively change the world of work but also education sector. Online meetings and tutorials allowed students and legal professionals to maintain their daily workload. Contract management software and electronic signatures programme increased productivity for the in-house legal workforce.
