How do you feel the pandemic has changed the world of work for in-house counsel and the function of the general counsel?
In-house counsel should always work alongside the business, but the pandemic contributed to creating a rift in this relationship. Now in-house teams have adapted to communication tools to respond to enquiries from the business as fast as needed. We are also maintaining fluent coordination with external teams and solving any difficulty with authorities that work in a slower and distanced way after pandemic. I find that this is key to keeping operations on track and avoiding any legal contingency to the business.
What are some of the key developments – legal, geopolitical or otherwise – that have affected your business over the past year?
For many companies and businesses all over, the pandemic, economic and political crisis in the region affected us all. Looking forward, what technological advancements do you feel will impact the role of in-house legal teams in the future the most? I predict that the shift to e-commerce is a reality that will bring new challenges for businesses and their legal functions.
