What has been the number one challenge that has impacted you over the past year?
I am sure that 2022 was an extremely challenging year for all of us who develop economic activities in Peru. Political uncertainty, natural disasters, global economic crises and the regulatory maelstrom, without much support or analysis, as well as the contraction of the local economy due to these factors, have generated a changing and adverse business scenario. The strength of our team and the resilience of most of our clients allowed the annual result to remain positive and growing. Undoubtedly, having a team of highly skilled and motivated professionals is critical to navigate the storms and achieve success.
Looking forward, what technological advancements do you feel will impact the role of in-house legal teams in the future the most?
The last quarter of 2022 and the beginning of 2023 has shown us that a paradigm shift is imminent, mainly driven by artificial intelligence. AI will undoubtedly contribute to our work, allowing us to further systematise tasks and automate processes. This will allow us to stay focused on the activities that generate real value to the company, and society, and will allow us to realise the full potential that a skilled team can achieve.
What is a cause, business related or otherwise, that you care about, and why?
In our particular case, our motto is to provide formal employment opportunities to more Peruvians, helping the development of our workers and their families, with the goal of significantly reducing the high and worrying levels of unemployment in Peru.
