What has been the number one challenge that has impacted you over the past year?

Last year was a complicated year. The political situation in my country was very unstable with various legal changes and authorities with little knowledge of my sector. However, we managed to obtain the permits and authorisations that we needed to operate.

Looking forward, what technological advancements do you feel will impact the role of in-house legal teams in the future the most?

I consider it important to evaluate the implementation of technologies with RPA, with which processes such as the classification of files, analysis of legal documents, report generation, management and monitoring of contracts can be automated.

What is a cause, business related or otherwise, that you care about, and why?

Fishery in Peru is a highly regulated industry, and consequently quite challenging. We are also a sector that contributes a lot to the country’s PBI. Additionally, we contribute with the development of our main interest groups through mechanisms such as OXI (works for taxes) through which we have built to date a municipal theatre and a school of veterinary medicine. Consequently, I feel that I am doing the right thing, in the right place.
