What has been the number one challenge that has impacted you over the past year?

My number one challenge is to maintain a healthy relationship with the regulatory agency of the industry. The company I work for provides public electricity services, and because of a natural monopoly it is permanently supervised, so we have to be very rigorous with the application of the sector’s regulations.

Looking forward, what technological advancements do you feel will impact the role of in-house legal teams in the future the most?

I believe that technological advances, such as artificial intelligence (AI), will have an impact on the legal industry, with an emphasis on in-house lawyers. AI will enable greater efficiency in work, streamlining, and speeding it up, therefore allowing more matters to be address in less time.

What is a cause, business related or otherwise, that you care about, and why?

An important cause that I care about is the production of green energy and how public policies are promoting its use. Nowadays, the world’s energy matrix is turning towards green energy due to its commitment to reducing CO2 emissions, so we are actively aware of government initiatives in order to help with their implementation.
