How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crises, and how does your legal strategy align with the broader business strategy to ensure the organisation’s resilience?
Construction is a very unstable business. Therefore, the best way to manage legal aspects is through prevention. By these means, we are always “walking” alongside our internal clients. I consider myself lucky because Cosapi is a company that considers the legal department as one of the team members. Consequently, we are involved in all our processes, making it easier to detect risks in the early stages and prevent legal or contractual “disasters”.
What emerging technologies do you see as having the most significant impact on the legal profession in the near future, and how do you stay updated on these developments?
Artificial intelligence is definitely the most useful technology for our profession. Reviewing documents and comparing information in just seconds is a game-changer in our day-to-day operations, where the importance of the legal professional lies in their experience and capabilities rather than merely identifying common risks in a contract.
In your opinion, what are the main trends that are salient in your country currently?
Currently, Peru is experiencing a highly unstable political environment, which in turn is significantly impacting the country’s economy. Investors are losing interest in Peru, and infrastructure projects have been paralyzed for at least five years. This poses a direct threat to the country’s development and has had adverse effects on our society.
