How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crises, and how does your legal strategy align with the broader business strategy to ensure the organisation’s resilience?
Managing legal aspects during instability or crises in the banking sector requires a comprehensive approach. In our view, it requires preparation, managing regulatory expectations, and a very well-elaborated crisis management plan to respond in a proper and quick manner. In our case, it is very important to preserve the trust and reputation of our institution at all times, as these characteristics are the core of our business.
Instability or crises always threaten the company brand and the business strategy. Consequently, our legal strategy aligns with this purpose as we make up part of the initial response teams. Additionally, we actively participate in the elaboration of communications to be made to our regulators and other stakeholders, while continuously giving advice to the different groups involved in crisis management.
What emerging technologies do you see as having the most significant impact on the legal profession in the near future, and how do you stay updated on these developments?
It may sound cliché, but artificial intelligence is significantly impacting the legal profession. Today, AI is not just hype; it is a reality, and it is helping legal departments become more efficient. In the near future, it will change the way in-house lawyers practice law, draft documents, and conduct legal research.
