Marita Bellido Arregui is an in-house counsel with a robust M&A background. She earned her Bachelor of Laws from the Universidad de Lima and was called to the bar in 2001. She furthered her expertise with a Master’s in Laws from the University of Toronto in 2003. Marita then began her professional journey with Scotiabank in 2004 as an international associate, progressing to legal counsel and then senior legal counsel in international M&A. Marita specialised in structured finance, international banking, and expanded into mergers and acquisitions from 2006 onwards.

Currently, Marita assists in Scotiabank’s strategic projects, providing expert legal, transactional, structuring, tactical, and strategic advice. Furthermore, she offers support on M&A endeavours, joint ventures, fintech initiatives, reorganisations, and other investments in the Caribbean and Latam region. Marita returned to Lima in 2009 while maintaining her role as senior legal counsel M&A international banking, contributing significantly to Scotiabank’s success in acquisitions and sales transactions since 2006.
