How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crises, and how does your legal strategy align with the broader business strategy to ensure the organisation’s resilience?

I believe our role during these times is crucial. We need to provide support to other areas of the company as they navigate through challenges. It’s a demanding period where we must instill confidence in our colleagues that the actions, they take are legally sound. Sometimes, amidst crises, other managers may rush into decisions, and we need to guide them to ensure a proper legal process is followed. Our primary skills in these situations are to instill confidence and ensure legal compliance.

How do you prioritise diversity and inclusion within your legal department, and what initiatives have you implemented to foster a more inclusive environment?

We have diverse policies regarding diversity and inclusion. We are open to welcoming people from around the world, embracing diversity in terms of religion and nationality. We strive to include individuals from various backgrounds. In terms of gender, we promote inclusivity and have couples with different gender identities in our team. In Peru, although there are no regulations permitting inclusion of same-gender partners in security policies, we have included them in our policy to ensure equal rights for all employees. We have a committee that meets regularly to promote diversity and discuss recommendations for the company. For example, one of our team members leads this committee, providing valuable insights from her own experiences. We also focus on preventing sexual harassment through training sessions for all employees.

What emerging technologies do you see as having the most significant impact on the legal profession in the near future, and how do you stay updated on these developments?

We are focusing on digitising our document management processes, which is crucial for the legal department. Previously, most documents were physical, but now we are transitioning to digital formats. All contracts are now digital, which is not only environmentally friendly but also faster and more efficient. Instead of taking a week for contract signing, it now takes only 15 minutes. We are also moving shareholder meetings and authorisations to virtual platforms, further streamlining our processes. These technological advancements are improving efficiency and productivity within our department.
