Credicorp Capital Peru

About

Fully committed and always willing to go above and beyond standard requirements, the Peruvian legal team of Credicorp Capital is comprised of a total of seven lawyers. Oscar Eyzaguirre is the legal director for Peru, and also performs a regional role as general counsel for all companies of Credicorp Capital in Peru and other countries where the company has presence. The team has three legal vice presidents including Mauricio Valverde, who is the most senior vice president of the legal team. ‘He is relatively new to the team but has rapidly become a key player in our new structure. He has proven an invaluable support for different internal clients ranging from business to the middle and back office staff’, says Eyzaguirre. Amongst other notable members, Gustavo Yokoo serves as the corporate finance legal vice president and has a strong focus on legal duties related to the structure of different financing transactions. He has earned the respect and trust of the business team that this year recognised his hard and diligent work with an internal company award. Erik Malca is the legal vice president and brings knowledge and experience that are of extreme value and accumulates a regulatory profile ‘a company like ours need in their legal team’ says Eyzaguirre. Eyzaguirre places a great importance on developing the two junior members of the team, something he believes greatly contributes to the success of the company. ‘We always try to make the experience of an internship at Credicorp Capital a unique experience by getting our interns involved in as many transactions and general matters as possible. This results in them getting the experience and additional knowledge they have come to get and our legal team the support we require’, says Eyzaguirre. The most instrumental change to the legal team has been a complete restructure of the team, involving not only a change in the approach of their work but also significant staff changes and duty reassignment within the team, particularly in the last 12 months. The legal department has also worked very hard to become closer to internal clients, not only the business teams but also the middle and back office teams. ‘Despite the many changes that took place recently, we have had a very strong year, and, fortunately, this has been acknowledged by our internal clients. We are proud to have worked closely with every other area (whether business, middle or back office) and have contributed to the best of our abilities to achieve the goals of the company and, in that intense process, have become better lawyers and persons’, says Eyzaguirre.
