Laureate Education is the world’s largest network of for-profit higher education institutions and together with its subsidiaries, provides higher education services to students through universities and various educational programs. The legal team that oversees the Peruvian institution and the wider Andean region is led by legal director Alfredo Vidal Henderson, who is well trusted by senior management and leads the team in handling Laureate’s local M&A activity. The legal team is comprised of three senior members serving individual in-house roles to each of the following institutions; UPC, UPN and Cibertec. It has recently been responsible for contract management through a very complex CRM, with non-lawyer members also at hand for the task. ‘My team is multi-skilled and versatile in the different legal issues we face, from regulatory issues such as licensing and accreditation or an acquisition of another institution , as well as more common issues such as labour and tax, or students and/or faculty complaints, or ethics and compliance topics’, says Henderson.
